Do you ever look for reviews on products before you buy them? Or on apps, before you add them to your phone or tablet/iPad? You want to make sure it’s worth your time and it really works, right? I’m right there with you! I look for reviews because I don’t want to waste time on something that doesn’t work. So, what do we do when there aren’t enough reviews for you to truly know? That happened when I ran across the Crochet.land app.
What did you do??
I took a chance and downloaded it anyway. I was looking for a way to keep up with my stitch count, but I was tired of having to write it down. Lazy, I know, but I was constantly losing that paper and tired of recounting the rows. I’ve been using this app for a little while now (almost a year) and thought I should give a review. And tell you exactly how I feel about it and what you can do with it.
What can you do with this app?
The Crochet.land app has many different features in it: settings, materials/supplies, notes, timer and stitch counter, a place for photos, and a way to determine how much you should charge for you finished project. Let’s hit each feature, one at a time.
The Settings:
The settings are located under the profile link. In the settings, you can input your country, your currency, your rate (how much are you going to charge per hour), and your markup index. The markup is basically how much are you charging over the price you paid for your materials. All of this is important for the money feature.
The materials/supplies
This is where you would list your consumables. What yarn did you use and how much was it? Remember when we talked about the markup and I said it was going to be important later? This is one of those important times. You input each skein of yarn, how much it costs, and how many of that skein (different colors and brands) did you buy. The crochet.land app calculates everything for you! How cool is that?!
Notes
You can add pretty much what you want in the notes section. I use this to notate the name of the pattern, how many stitches by how many stitches, and who made the pattern or where I got it from. You can use it for anything you need to make notations for really.
timer and stitch counter
This feature is really the ONLY reason I downloaded this app. I can time myself to see how long a pattern takes me to make and/or I can count each stitch. This is a nice feature if you have more than one project going at a time or if you have to constantly put your project down for a while at a time. If you turn the timer on for just a few seconds, it will also keep the date you started your project on file for you.

photos
In the Photos tab, you can keep images of your project as you are making it. It gives you the ability to watch your project go from just yarn and transform into something beautiful. It also gives you the ability to see what your pattern looks like. You will have to take a picture with your device first, then you can upload it.
money
This is where you get to see what the Crochet.land app suggests you pay based on your settings and the amount of money you’ve spent on materials. In this setting, you will see how much you’ve spent on your materials, your cost based on your hours (if you chose to do that), and the dates of your first and last stitch.
My HONEST Review:
Are you ready for my HONEST opinion about the Crochet.land app? I absolutely LOVE it! I would recommend this app to everyone who crochets and knits. It is very user friendly and helps with keeping up with your counts and time. If you are looking to sell your finished project, this app helps you determine the price you should set for your product.
To Sell:
Setting a price is something that we all sometimes struggle with. Using this app, you don’t have to worry about trying to do the math. All you have to do is set your preferences on markup and hourly rate (I don’t use the hourly rate) and then input your costs. That’s it!
Not to sell
If you are not wanting to sell, you can still use this app to help with keeping up with your stitch count. For me, this feature alone makes this app worth having. I normally do projects that have hundreds of rows, and I normally have more than one project going at a time. So, keeping count of the rows on each project can be a little tricky. That is before I downloaded this app on my phone. Now, I can just pick up where I left off without any issues.
The Crochet.land app is a lifesaver for anyone who loves to crochet or knit. It takes the guesswork out of everything involved with this craft. I personally give this app a 5-star rating and would highly recommend it. It has saved me so much headache and stress!
Do you have an app or product (concerning crocheting) you would like me to review? Let me know!
