Learn How to Deco Mesh and Mesh Tube in the Same Wreath
Making a wreath for holidays or just because can be a fun experience, especially when you have no real plans of how you want the finished product to look. That’s when you get to just let your creative juice flow and then be just as surprised at the outcome as everyone else is. Sometimes that works out well and sometimes….well, not so much.
When I decided to do a Wreath of the Month, St. Patrick’s Day supplies were few and far between at my local Dollar Trees. Now, I could have gone to Hobby Lobby or Michaels to get my supplies, but I wanted this to be a Dollar Tree Project. And for now, that’s how I want all of our wreath projects. Mind you, that may change later on if I end up doing different types of wreaths. Of course, that’s too far in the future to worry about.

How to Create a St. Patrick’s Day Wreath Using Only Dollar Tree Supplies
Step 1: Cut Your Deco Mesh and Mesh Tubes
The first thing you want to do is cut out all of your deco mesh, mesh tubes, and chenille stems. I don’t know why, but it seems like completing this step first helps make the rest of the process go more smoothly. This step and the next one.
You want to cut your chenille stems in half. You are going to need 72 pieces, so you will need to cut 36 chenille stems. Next, cut your deco mesh in six inch pieces. If you have 4 different colors, you will need 48 pieces of each color. If you did like me, you will need 48 pieces of the two different colors and 96 pieces of the third color.
Finally, you will cut your mesh tubes in 24 inch pieces. You need four pieces per bundle, and there are four bundles per section. I used two different colors which equaled 48 pieces per color. If you use four different colors, you will need 24 pieces of each color.
Step 2: Put Your Bundles Together
To create your deco mesh bundles, roll one piece of each color (you should have 4 pieces rolled) and attach a chenille stem in the center with a couple of twists. Repeat this process until you have 48 deco mesh bundles.
Next, create your mesh tube bundles by making a “bow” out of 4 pieces (you can use 4 different colors or 2 of 2 different colors). Attach a chenille stem in the center with a couple of twists. Again, repeat this process until you have 24 mesh tube bundles.
Step 3: Add Your Bundles to Your Wreath Form
Now that your bundles are created, it’s time to add them to the wreath form. Pick any of the sections to start in. Add eight deco mesh and four mesh tube bundles to the section starting with two deco bundles and one mesh bundle. Repeat that pattern until you’ve completed each section. Once you have them all added, spread out your bundles, making sure your mesh tubes are visible.
Step 4: Add Your Centerpiece (Optional)
The last step in creating your wreath is to add the centerpiece. Of course, this step is optional. You can either create a bow to add here or add a decor piece from Dollar Tree. I chose a decor piece from Dollar Tree. You can attach the centerpiece using chenille stems or you can use wire. I used wire to attach this centerpiece, but will probably go back to the method I used when I completed the Valentine’s Day Wreath.
Step 5: Hang Your St. Patrick’s Day Wreath
Finally, it’s time to hang your St. Patty’s Day wreath! You can add some wire or twine to the back of the wreath to create a loop or you can hang your wreath using the wreath form. I have a command hook on my door and I just slide my wreath on it and let it hang from the wreath form. So far, I haven’t had any issues doing it this way.
