Learn How to Add Images to Your Cutting Board
Have you ever thought about turning plain glass cutting boards into home decor? Or maybe you just wanted a cute cutting board (I’m guilty of that). Not only can you add designs on cutting boards, but Dollar Tree also sells glass cutting boards, so you can create that stunning home decor at little cost!
I know this isn’t a new concept, but it’s a concept that can carry on for a long time to come. To be honest, I didn’t know that the glass cutting boards are actually cutting boards. I always thought they were glass pot holders. Either way, they make for an easy sublimation project whether you are using them or showcasing them as home decor.

How to Sublimate on Glass Cutting Boards From Dollar Tree
Step 1: Get My Free Sublimated Glass Cutting Board Designs File
To get the design, go to Victori’s Creations’ Vault. Enter the password to access The Vault (the password can be found in each email I send out). Look for design #012 – Sublimated Glass Cutting Board Designs file and download it to your device.
Step 2: Preparing Your Designs
To prepare your designs, find the download on your computer and open it up. If you want to personalize your cutting board designs, you will want to open them in a program that allows you to modify PNG files. I like to use Canva when I want to add text to my images.
To add text in Canva, upload your designs and add a text box. Be sure that you don’t change the size of your designs as they are sized for the Dollar Tree cutting boards. Once you are done, you just need to download the new design to your device.
Step 3: Printing Out Your Designs
When printing out your designs, make sure you are using your sublimation printer. If you are like me, you have a printer for your normal printing and you have one for your sublimation. Make sure you have your settings set up for the best quality; however, for the glass cutting board, you should not set your images to mirror. Load your sublimation paper in your printer and click on print.
Step 4: Prepping Your Glass Cutting Boards
To begin, you need to remove the little legs from the back of your cutting board. Put these aside as we will be putting them back on at the end. Clean any adhesive residue from the back of the cutting board using water, then dry it completely.
Cut out a circle or square from the Oracle 651 vinyl using your Cricut or trace out the circle/square and cut it by hand with scissors. Now, place your cutting board over your design, center it, and place markings in the corners with your pencil.
Working with the smooth side of your cutting board, spray a light coat of Rapid Tac on the cutting board and to the sticky side of your vinyl. If your vinyl doesn’t move, peel it back up and apply another light coating. Move your vinyl around until you have it covering the cutting board. Working from the center out, squeegee the excess liquid out (your cutting board should be on a hand towel or paper towel). Let the vinyl dry for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Apply Your Designs On Your Glass Cutting Boards
While your cutting board is drying, turn your heat press on. Set your temperature to 385℉ and set your timer for 190 seconds. Once your heat press has reached the right temperature, close it for a dry run so the bottom of the press is just as hot as the top.
Once your cutting board is dry, place it on your design, vinyl side down. Align your board with the marks you made earlier and secure it with heat-resistant tape. Place your board between two pieces of butcher paper with the image on the bottom (opposite of normal). Close your heat press and let it run for the entire time.
Use your heat-resistant gloves when removing your cutting board from the heat press. Set your cutting board on your heat mat until it cools completely (do not try to remove the paper yet). Once your cutting board cools, run it under water for a few seconds and then set it in water to soak for about two minutes. After your cutting board has soaked for two minutes, you can peel the paper back and remove any residue using a sponge and water.
