The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship
About three years ago, a teacher friend introduced me to the Apple iPad Pro and was telling me all of the cool ways I could use it in the classroom. Of course, I had to have one, so I went online to Best Buy and ordered my first ever iPad Pro.
Skip ahead a year and I’ve discovered the digital planner. I was so tired of trying to keep up with my planning, student info, parent contacts, and all of the different things we had to keep up with. A planner to keep up with what I was doing, a binder with student info, a binder with parent contacts. Oh, the list goes on and on. Life just got better!

Combining Multiple Items Into One
Finding the digital planner gave me the freedom to be able to keep everything in one place AND I could take it home without having to lug around so many binders. Oh, and if you make a mistake, it is so much easier to fix in a digital planner.
After using the binder for a full school year, I wanted to give making one a go. After LOTS of research, time clocked on youtube, and much-needed trial and error, I created my first ever digital planner! It was so cool! And something I had to do every year.
Plain But Useful
Of course, my first digital teacher planner was very basic. I used the calendar for EVERYTHING. Throughout the school year, I kept thinking that I need my planner to be better. I thought about all of the things I needed to put in the planner.
New and Improved
Once I knew exactly what I wanted to be in my planner, I got to work creating it. I included a page for student birthdays (I have a birthday board in my classroom), important school dates, monthly calendars, Student Info, daily and weekly lesson plans, grade book, and parent contact page.
I’ve already gone through and put in the holidays and school-related days. Ya know, PD days, Teacher Workdays, early dismissal days, and holidays that we are out for. I am going to be ready for whatever this year holds.
To be honest, when I first went from paper planning to digital planning, I was skeptical.
I had no idea that buying my first iPad Pro was going to make my life so much easier. To be honest, when I first went from paper planning to digital planning, I was skeptical. So much so that I kept my paper planner close by for half the school year. But, not having to carry around so much has made my life so much more organized and less stressful. And, if you’re a teacher, you know you do what you can to relieve stress.
