Have you ever wanted to do something special for your local senior class? I mean, don’t they deserve a little something special? After all, they did just make it through at least 13 years of school. That is a major feat all on its own. Let me show you how to create a Senior Wall that all students will love!

The Idea
Last year, we were given the green light to decorate our hallways for Christmas. I wanted to do something special for my high schoolers, so I printed out personalized stockings for them to color and cut out. I then laminated them so I could hot glue them to the wall. Well, my 12th-grade students wanted to make stockings for all of the seniors.
After Christmas was over and the stockings were taken down, I felt like I needed something for the seniors…something special for them. And that’s when it hit me! I needed that wall to be the Senior Wall. I wanted it to say something about the Class of 2021 and I wanted to showcase their senior pics.

I honestly didn’t think it would be a big hit. Honestly, I thought the kids would think it was silly. I was so very wrong! So wrong, that I had juniors telling me that there had better be a senior wall up for them. And so, the Meet the Class of Senior Wall was born.
Designing Your Senior Wall
Designing the Senior Wall is pretty simple. But, before you can begin, you are going to need a few things. I listed them below! ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
The first step in creating your Senior Wall is to design the letters and numbers. In Design Space, you will want to open a new project (don’t forget to name your project…yes, I’ve done that) and type out the words ‘Meet the Class of,’ ‘20,’ and two sets of numbers 0-9 using Kate’s ABCs – Baby Girl font. I cut all of mine on scrapbook cardstock in our school colors. And I made everything five inches tall.
Be sure to make everything in both colors that you plan to use. For example, our school colors are red and black, so I made ‘Meet the Class of,’ ‘20,’ and two sets of numbers 0-9 in both red and in black.
Cutting Out the Letters and Numbers
Once you have all of the letters and numbers designed the way you want them, it’s time to apply your cardstock to your mats and send it all to your Cricut. This can be the easy part if you have enough mats. I only have two, so I was constantly taking the cardstock off as soon as my Cricut was done with it and adding the new cardstock to the mat so it was ready.
Lamination Is Key to Making the Senior Wall Last
In five years of teaching, I have learned that if you want to keep any decorations you make, you need to laminate them. Since I plan to use the ‘Meet the Class of’ and all of the numbers every year, I laminated everything. I layered my red over the black to give it a shadow effect on everything. This is the reason why it is important to cut everything in both colors.
Make sure you are laminating the words together to the best of your ability. It will be easier to hot glue the words on the wall if they are laminated together. I also laminated the numbers 20 together, since it will be a long time before we hit 2100. Cut them all out and hot glue them to the wall and add your Senior pictures. This year, I have the seniors giving me a quote to go on the wall with their pictures.
All Students Love the Senior Wall
Creating the Senior Wall seems like such a small thing. And I truly thought the students would think it was silly. But I was completely wrong! All of the students love the Senior Wall, not just the seniors. I feel like it gives them something to look forward to for their senior year.
